Cork is a wonderful material to work in. We got these nice cork beads from our friends at Make & Create last week and we’ve been eager to try them out since. So what did we make, you might wonder? Pencil Toppers, of course! Check it out!

First make a stylish haircut for the pencil topper. Cut pieces of yarn in any length and tie them together in the middle with a long piece of yarn. Thread the long yarn through the cork pearl, add some glue into the hole and let the yarn and cork bead to dry.

Time for a haircut!

We made the eyes for this pencil topper with round-headed pins and sequins. The cork is soft it’s easy to push the needle into the pearl. You can also paste or draw eyes on to the cork bead.

Remove the eraser from the pen and press the metal together with your fingers. Put glue on the cork bead and press it on to the pencil. The hole in the bead is slightly smaller than the pencil is thick, but the cork is soft and you can easily press the together. Done!

The cork is fun to work with and the pencil topper can be varied in many ways. These little rascals will follow miss F to school tomorrow. I think they will make a success.
