Milk Carton Organizer

I do not know how it is with you, but in our house pencils, scissors and glue sticks lay in many different places. We have made small pen jars before, but a need for something bigger and more practical has emerged. We decided to try and make a large and luxurious organizer in a material most people have at home – milk cartons!

You need 5 milk cartons, scissors, glue, a fancy paper to cover the cartons in and a piece of ribbon to make a handle. Some clothespins can also be good to have at hand.

1. First finish off the milk and wash the cartons out properly. Cut the top of four of the cartons, but let one panel of each package remain higher.

2. Glue the high sides two and two together and then glue them together with each other. To make the organizer stable, also cut a long piece of the last carton, fold it in half and glue it straight over the high rear. Cover the organizer in a fancy paper.

3 The last, when all the glue has dried, we make two holes in the top. Use a hole punch if you have, or a sharp pair of scissors. We thread a fine ribbon through the holes and our organizer deluxe is ready to put in use!

The luxurious paper we used is Lisa Bengtsson’s pretty wallpaper ”Tillsammans blå” and the amazing coloring book is made by photographer Jenny Brandt and her husband, and it’s available here.

What a great idea! I love it and will “copy” it for sure because my daughter will leave to go to university, so I can make a “bureau-to-go” for her.
    Thank you!

Thank you, Kate! We only have the cartons in Sweden and with a teenager in the house we use a lot of milk 😉
